Girls are the world’s most squandered gift. They are precious human beings with enormous potential, but across the world, they are generally the last to have their basic needs met and the first to have their basic rights denied.

The majority of youth work provision is oriented around the needs and interests of boys and young men. This is represented in the attendance figures of most youth clubs and projects.
Since 2007, with the support of BBC Children In Need, we have chosen to address this particular inequality in youth work provision by developing work specifically with young women, recognising that they are often overlooked.
In this period the number of young women participating in the life of Urban Hope had doubled. We are delighted that more than 50% of young people participating in the life of Urban Hope are young women.
