VOLUNTEERS

WHY VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are central to what Urban Hope does and we are always on the look-out for new people to help us run sessions or do some of the behind-the-scenes work that those sessions depend on. We need volunteers to work alongside youth workers in building positive relationships with young people, acting as role models and providing positive activities.

Each Volunteer brings a new perspective to life and a new set of skills. This all adds value and strength to our sessions and helps supports the lives of young people. Working with young people is good fun. You are able to have a laugh and joke, while knowing that you are helping to support the future generation.

Urban Hope will provide volunteers with the support and training to be able to work with young people. This will include safeguard training, some basic youth work training. We will also support you to find and take part in other training that will support you in this role. At Urban Hope you will be part of the team and we want you to use your skills and talents in the sessions.

"Getting involved in volunteering at Urban Hope is a chance to connect with some brilliant young people at different moments in their lives. This is about supporting your community and feeling connected."

Lorna Wilson

THE DIFFERENCE VOLUNTEERING MAKES

Volunteers bring a different perspective of life to young people and help them to achieve their dreams. While doing this they help us to gain a better understanding of the young people.

As an integral part of the life of Urban Hope, volunteers help us to run our weekly youth clubs. They help with the development and support of the young people, providing a listening ear and extra support when needed.

"I volunteer at Urban Hope as a way to give back to my local community. I believe it is important to invest time and effort into our young people to create a more secure and safe future for our local community. Through volunteering at Urban Hope I am able to give back to my local community, build new skills, meet new friends and have loads of fun along the way while making a difference."
